Chinese Influence
Byron’s interest in calligraphy led him to work with Chinese characters. Workshops helped him to refine this art, and he recorded pages of notes from these sessions. This interest launched some experientation with a painting style that he identified as “Chinese.” Some of what he produced were likely attempts to reproduce what he saw in books on Asian art.
From one of Byron’s sketchbooks: a guest from China demonstrates calligraphy during a visit to Byron and Carol’s home.
